How do I create my first transcript?

Create a free account, drop an audio or video file into the upload panel — or paste a link to a video or podcast, or record straight from the browser — pick the spoken language, then start the transcription. Most recordings are ready in a fraction of their runtime, and the transcript opens with synced playback.

Do I need a credit card to try it?

No. The Free plan needs no card and includes speaker separation, word-level timestamps and all 15 export formats. Only the summary-only export needs AI insights, which are on Pro and Business.

What files can I upload?

Accepted Answer

Common audio and video formats — MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM and more. Files can be up to 3 GB each on Free and 5 GB each on Pro and Business. Video is converted to audio in your browser before upload, so large files transfer far faster.

Can I record directly in the app?

Yes. Record Live captures audio in the browser using our realtime engine, shows text as you speak, and saves the finished recording into your library with the same options and feedback as an upload.

Can I transcribe from a link instead of uploading?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Paste a link to a public video, podcast episode or direct audio file and we fetch the audio for you — YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Snapchat, SoundCloud, Dailymotion and direct file links all work. A link that has no playable media behind it, or a private one, is refused with an explanation. Link imports count towards your allowance exactly like uploads.

Which export formats can I download?

Fifteen: plain text, Word (.docx), PDF, SRT, WebVTT, YouTube captions (.sbv), advanced subtitles (.ass), broadcast captions (TTML), Markdown, a styled web page, CSV, Excel (.xlsx), JSON, speaker-grouped text, and a summary-only document once a recording has AI insights. All of them are on every plan, including Free; the summary-only file needs Pro or Business, since that is where AI insights live. You can also download a whole selection at once.

Can I upload many files at once?

Yes. Bulk upload queues every file with its own language and a shared set of transcription options, shows per-file progress, and lets you retry or remove individual items without touching the rest of the batch.

How accurate are the transcripts?

Recordings run through a state-of-the-art speech engine that publishes 98%+ accuracy in major languages such as English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and German. Clear audio is typically near-perfect; heavy background noise, crosstalk or very distant microphones reduce accuracy. Adding key terms for names and jargon usually recovers most of that gap.

Can I improve the result on difficult audio?

Yes. Set the spoken language explicitly instead of leaving it to detection, give an expected speaker count for panels or interviews, and adjust speaker sensitivity when voices are being split too finely or merged together. On Pro and Business you can also add key terms for names, acronyms and jargon — the single most effective fix there is.

How many languages are supported?

Over 100 languages for uploaded files. You can pick the language per file, and in bulk you can set one language for the whole batch and still override individual files.

Can it tell speakers apart?

Yes. Speaker labels are automatic, and you can rename or merge speakers, set an expected speaker count, tune how sensitively voices are split apart, and assign roles so exports read cleanly.

Can I translate a transcript?

On Pro and Business you can translate a finished transcript into 100+ languages, or translate the original audio into English during transcription. Translating a transcript into its own language is blocked, since there is nothing to translate.

Can I clean up filler words and sensitive data?

Filler removal strips “um”, “uh” and similar hesitations and is available on every plan. PII redaction, custom key terms and multi-channel audio carry a surcharge from the speech engine, so they are on Pro and Business only.

How much can I transcribe?

Accepted Answer

Total transcription time is unlimited on every plan, and so is storage — your library keeps every transcript and recording. Free is metered by a daily job count instead: 3 transcriptions per day, up to 40 min per file, resetting every day. Pro and Business have no daily count and accept single recordings up to 10 hours long.

What happens when I hit the Free daily limit?

New transcriptions are declined with a clear message until the limit resets the next day, including files sitting in a queue. Nothing is lost — the files stay in your library and can be started again after the reset.

Can I open a second free account for more daily transcriptions?

Accepted Answer

No. Free accounts used on the same device share a single daily allowance of 3 transcriptions, so extra accounts add nothing. Signups from temporary or throwaway email providers are also declined. Paid plans have no daily count at all.

What if my recording is longer than the Free limit?

Accepted Answer

It is still transcribed — just not past the limit. On Free, uploads, link imports and live recordings are cut off at 40 min, and the transcript says so, rather than the whole recording being refused. Pro and Business accept single recordings up to 10 hours long.

Does a failed transcription use my allowance?

Accepted Answer

No. Failed or empty transcriptions are not counted. If you retry and it succeeds, it counts once, in the month it completed.

Do paid plans get processed sooner?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When the queue is busy, processing slots go to Business first, then Pro, then Free — so paid work never waits behind a backlog of free jobs.

Do queued files keep going if I close the tab?

Yes. A background worker picks up queued recordings, so a transcription that has been started finishes even if you leave the page or close your browser.

How is billing handled?

Payments run through Paddle as merchant of record, which also handles applicable sales tax and VAT. Card details never touch our servers.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan needs no card and gives you 3 transcriptions a day, up to 40 minutes each, with all 15 export formats. Paid plans start billing as soon as you subscribe — there is no free trial.

How much does yearly billing save?

Yearly billing costs the equivalent of ten months, so you get two months free compared with paying monthly. Business is sold on a yearly term only.

How does Business seat billing work?

Business is billed per user, yearly. The owner picks the seat count — up to 10 seats — and only the owner is charged. Seats count each person once across all of your workspaces, so someone who belongs to two workspaces still uses one seat, and pending invitations hold a seat until they are accepted or revoked.

What happens if I cancel?

Cancelling a paid subscription keeps your plan until the end of the paid period, after which the account returns to Free limits. Transcripts are never deleted because of a downgrade.

Can I get receipts and invoices?

Yes. Open Settings and expand Billing Details to see every payment with a downloadable PDF receipt and tax invoice. Your plan, seats and usage live in the Subscription Management section on the same page.

How do team workspaces work?

On Business the owner creates workspaces, invites members by email, and shares transcripts or whole folders into them. Everything else stays private to the person who uploaded it.

If I am invited to a Business workspace, do I get Business benefits?

Accepted Answer

For work you do for that workspace, yes. When you pick the workspace as the destination before recording or uploading, the file runs on the owner's Business plan — no daily file cap, recordings up to 10 hours, AI summaries and translation — and it does not touch your own allowance. Anything you keep private still uses your own plan.

Can members use the workspace plan for personal files?

No. Only files you deliberately file to the workspace run on its plan, and those join the shared library straight away so the owner can see them. Members cannot take them back out. The owner can also set a daily fair-use limit per member, or switch off member use of the workspace plan entirely.

Can I share in bulk, or with more than one workspace?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Select multiple recordings and share them in one action, or share a whole folder so anything added to it becomes available to the team. A folder or recording can be shared with as many of your workspaces as you like, and each one can be switched off again independently.

Can I share a transcript with someone who has no account?

Yes. Create a public read-only link for a finished transcript and anyone with the link can read it in the browser — no account needed. The link can be revoked at any time, and the original media file is never public.

Is there an audit trail?

Yes, two of them. An activity log records member changes, sharing, workspace locks and unlocks, and deletions. A separate content log records what happens to recordings in the workspace — opened, exported, renamed, moved, translated, shared, public links created or revoked, deleted or restored, and every time the owner opens a member recording that was never shared — each with who did it and when.

What happens to a workspace if I downgrade?

Workspaces that need more seats than your plan allows are locked rather than deleted, with a notice explaining why. Restoring the plan unlocks them with all content intact.

Can I delete a workspace by accident?

Deletion is owner-only, requires an explicit confirmation checkbox, and is reversible for 7 days before it becomes permanent.

Can a member delete workspace content for good?

Accepted Answer

No. When a workspace recording is deleted it goes to the workspace recycle bin for 30 days, where the owner can restore it or erase it sooner. After 30 days it is erased automatically. Owners can also restrict deletion to themselves only.

Who can see my recordings?

Accepted Answer

Only you, unless you share them — with one exception: if you belong to a team workspace, its owner can open recordings you made while you were a member, even without sharing, and every one of those views is written to the workspace content log. Recordings you made before joining stay private, and media is kept in private storage with short-lived playback links tied to your account.

Are my recordings used to train models?

No. Your media and transcripts are processed to deliver the service and are not used to train models.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Delete individual recordings, folders or your whole account. Account deletion removes your media, transcripts and derived AI content.

Speech recognition runs on ElevenLabs Scribe, and AI summaries and translation run through our AI gateway. Both process content only to return the result to you.
